Nevada Opera Brings “Carmen” to the Eldorado Showroom
RENO, Nev. (September 18, 2013) – The Nevada Opera (NVO) is bringing their 2013-2014 season to the Eldorado beginning with “Carmen” in the Eldorado Showroom on Friday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m.
NVO is excited to bring their productions to the Eldorado Showroom where the operas will be performed as originally intended – in a more intimate venue with spectacular acoustics. The 580 seat Eldorado Showroom is an award winning theater and the only Broadway-style venue in Northern Nevada.
“We are thrilled to have forged a partnership with Nevada Opera and to be featuring the world-renowned opera ‘Carmen’ to kick off the 2013-2014 season,” said Jen Dominique, entertainment director for the Eldorado.
This stunning production of Bizet’s “Carmen” will be presented as he initially desired with dialogue. Though there is no definitive edition of “Carmen,” as Bizet created variations for different venues and other composers and dramatists created versions beyond that; NVO will perform the structure of the work as Bizet first conceived it, while wrapping the local flavor of Street Vibrations around it with honest artistic license for a unique version that maintains the integrity of Bizet’s brilliant composition.
Designed and directed by Joachim Schamberger, this production will feature English supertitles and dialogue. Florida Grand Opera favorite, Amanda Crider, will lead this multicultural cast, which includes well-known recording artist Kyu Won Han as Escamillo and Korean favorite, soprano Kyun Sun Choi as Micaela.
Tickets for the Nevada Opera’s production of “Carmen” at the Eldorado Showroom are $30, $45, $60 and $80. Dinner and show packages will also be available.
