RENO, Nev. (May 22, 2013) – Equal parts barbeque block party, micro-brew tasting event and rock and blues festival, the Great Eldorado BBQ, Brews and Blues festival has become synonymous with summer. The unofficial kick-off to summer event is set for June 21 and 22 this year.
Nothing says summer like barbecue and the Eldorado has the perfect complement to the festival's variety of microbrews. Food booths will line Virginia Street serving a variety of tasty options from traditional items like slow smoked brisket, St. Louis style ribs and whole hog pulled pork to more eclectic offerings like carne asada tacos, hog wings and Korean BBQ burgers with sesame slaw, pickled cucumbers and kimchee mayonnaise on a green onion bun, served with Togarashi spiced onion rings. Additional offerings include Brew Brothers beer brats and Polish dogs, chili and cheese fries and fire roasted corn with roasted poblano-cilantro crema and ground cotija cheese. Those with a sweet tooth can indulge in deep fried Snickers, Milky Ways, Peanut Butter Cups and Oreos.
Attendees can wash it all down with a selection of the Eldorado's own Brew Brothers' custom microbrews or the more than 40 microbreweries from around the world. Just some of the participating breweries include; Grand Teton Brewing Co., Big Sky Brewing Co., Lost Coast Brewery, Mendocino Brewing Co., Ruby Mountain Brewing Co., North Coast Brewery, Anchor Brewing Co., Knee Deep Brewing Co., Deschutes Brewery, Anderson Valley Brewing Co., Alaskan Brewing Co. Anheuser Busch, Battle Born, High Sierra Brewing Co., Moab Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing Co., Pyramid Brewery, Samuel Adams Brewing Co., Speakeasy Brewery, Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Tahoe Mountain Brewing Co., Magic Hat Brewery and many more. The $30 daily or $50 weekend tasting package includes an eight ounce souvenir cup and unlimited tastings during the beer tasting times of 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
And in the midst of it all are two outdoor stages featuring non-stop rock and blues. Headliners for this year’s event include Blood Sweat & Tears, Greg Kihn Band and Tommy Castro and The Painkillers. Festival favorites Shane Dwight Band, Maxx Cabello Jr. and Jason King Band will be returning while newcomers Carolyn Dolan & Big Red, Rick Hammond Blues Band, The Schall Adams Band, Valentine Rodeo and Whiskey Hauler round out the line-up.
