“I think this year was the best yet,” said Rick Murdock, vice president of casino marketing for the Eldorado. “Our entertainment was just outstanding. People were packed in the street to see Tommy Castro and John Cafferty. We had more breweries this year than we’ve had in years, our rooms were full, the casino was full and everyone left happy!”
Beer tasters crowned Lost Coast Brewery out of Eureka, Calif. the favorite brewery for the 2014 People’s Choice awards. Lost Coast’s Watermelon Wheat also took home the honors for favorite beer.
"Lost Coast Brewery is thrilled to win the People's Choice Award at the Eldorado BBQ, Brews and Brews festival,” said Catherine Coontz, marketing representative. “Our Watermelon Wheat is a refreshing wheat ale with a hint of watermelon for enjoying all year long. We've been testing the beer in different markets and serving it at this event was a huge success. We're now in the process of re-branding the beer as Monster Melon Wheat and we're excited to share this beer with more people."
A record number of people checked in at the event. The Eldorado and Yelp teamed up for a fun scavenger hunt this year. Attendees took photos and posted with specific tags to win prizes including five pairs of VIP tickets to the 2015 festival, growlers, show tickets and free beer at The Brew Brothers.
“Did someone say free beer? Yeah! Yelp, Eldorado, and Brew Bros did and the crowd responded!” said Michael Tragash, Reno’s Yelp community manager. “We were swamped all weekend, and the huge number of Yelpers checking in to the Great Eldorado BBQ, Brews, and Blues Festival on the Yelp app don't lie!”
