For Immediate Release
Friday February 14, 2014
RENO, Nev. (February 14, 2014) – “Ring of Fire,” a musical tribute based on the music of American singer-songwriter, Johnny Cash, is now appearing in the Eldorado Showroom. The production is not a retelling of Cash’s turbulent life, but it does use more than 30 of his songs to celebrate the essence of an American experience – life, love, loss and everything in between.
The talented cast of 10 includes three women and seven men who all sing, dance and play multiple instruments. The audience is treated to furious fiddle-playing, thumping percussion, soulful harmonica and more guitars than you can count.
“Ring of Fire” includes some of Cash’s most beloved songs such as Daddy Sang Bass, Ring of Fire, I Walk the Line, I’ve Been Everywhere, Boy Named Sue, The Man in Black, Folsom Prison Blues as well as Cash and June Carter Cash tunes such as Jackson, Far Side Banks of Jordan and I Still Miss Someone.
The real story of Johnny Cash is told in his music which is not presented chronologically in the show but instead categorically. Dividing the show into four parts–Boyhood Years, Opry and Fame, Dark Years, Redemption and Celebration–gives the audience the chance to see the influence that Cash’s life experiences played in the creation of his music.
Those looking to celebrate the Man in Black’s birthday can attend the Biggest Little Johnny Cash Birthday Bash on Friday, February 28 beginning at 6 p.m. in the showroom. There will be cake, a meet and greet with the Ring of Fire cast and prize giveaways including a limited edition boxed set of “The Legend” by Johnny Cash valued at $300, t-shirts and other Johnny Cash memorabilia as well as dinners, rooms and show tickets from the Eldorado.
Variety magazine said “Ring of Fire is Hot” and USA Today praised the show, noting, “Fire Burns Brighter, Truer and with More Imagination than Most.”
Performances of “Ring of Fire” run nightly except Mondays with showtimes Tuesday and Friday at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets prices start at just $24.95 with dinner and show packages from only $38.95.
