During Hot August Nights, cars are “cherry” and cruisin’ is “cool.”
It’s the largest classic car and nostalgia event in the United States with venues spread across the Reno Sparks area. Cars are the stars and rock ‘n’ roll rules through the dozens of concerts, controlled cruises, show ‘n’ shines, a sock hop and much more! Plenty of shopping can be found at the Big Boy Toy Store and Hot Augusts Nights Swap Meet.
The event will begin with full day of activities on Tuesday, August 6 with show-n-shines, cruising and entertainment, and will conclude on Sunday, August 11th after our parade of cars. You don’t have to own a classic car to be an enthusiastic participant of Hot August Nights.
A detailed event and entertainment schedule will be available in July. Past entertainers have included: Blood, Sweat & Tears, Neil Sedaka, The Village People, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Herman's Hermits Starring Peter Noone, Sonny Turner, and many more great entertainers from the 50's, 60's & 70's.

As part of a historic partnership with Hot August Nights, Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™, is excited to announce the inaugural Barrett-Jackson Cup™ to be awarded during this year’s Downtown Reno Show-n-Shine. The event will include a $40,000 prize purse, with $20,000 being awarded to the car that earns the coveted Ultimate Best of Show Award. This comes on the heels of Barrett-Jackson’s landmark agreement with the world’s premier classic car and nostalgia festival, to hold the first-ever Hot August Nights Auction Presented by Barrett-Jackson at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center August 8 through 10, 2013.
Participants in the Downtown Reno Show-n-Shine will compete in daily competitions beginning Wednesday, August 7 through Friday, August 9. Fifteen daily Best of Show winners will receive a ribbon and an invitation to return on Saturday for the Finals to take place Saturday, August 10. The 45 Finalists will be staged in the Silver Legacy Ballroom from the hours of 8am to 4pm where the top five will be selected then sent to the Barrett-Jackson Auction for the final judging. Once the Final Five have been judged at the auction by a team of Barrett-Jackson officials and placed in their perspective winning category of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or Ultimate Best of Show Winner, they will proceed back to downtown Reno and be staged on Virginia Street for the Awards Presentation during a spectacular fireworks display presented by the Silver Legacy Resort Casino.

The daily awards presentation for Show-n-Shine winners will take place in downtown Reno where all finalist vehicles will be displayed. The Downtown Reno Show-n-Shine is the result of collaboration between the Eldorado Hotel Casino, Silver Legacy Resort Casino, Circus Circus Hotel & Casino and Harrah’s Reno. The Barrett-Jackson Cup™ will be on display at the Hot August Nights headquarters located at 1425 E. Greg Street in Sparks, Nev.
