Reno-Lake Tahoe proudly boasts the highest concentration of ski and snowboard resorts in North America. Within an hour of Reno, Nevada you'll find 15 alpine ski resorts and seven beautifully groomed cross-country ski areas. Lake Tahoe summit elevations range from 7,350 to 10,100 feet, which guarantees incredible snow packs and ski seasons that can last from November until late spring. Tahoe’s majestic mountains feature runs, trails and terrain parks for every level of skier or snow boarder. Away from the slopes you'll find ice-skating, sledding, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and of course Reno's sensational nightlife.

Alpine Meadows (45 miles)
Alpine Meadows has amazing views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierras. It has terrain that engages and challenges any level skier or snow boarder. In addition, Alpine is home to an adaptive ski school for disabled people.

Boreal (45 miles)
Boreal is conveniently located just off of Interstate 80. It has always been a favorite with families and snowboarders. Boreal is one of the first ski areas to open and offers night skiing .

Diamond Peak (32 miles)
Located in Incline Village on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, Diamond Peak has a vertical drop of 1,840 feet and an average annual snowfall of around 325 inches. The resort has over 655 acres of plush skiing terrain, including 30 trails, open bowls, and great tree skiing.

Donner Ski Ranch (47 miles)
Donner Ski Ranch was first utilized for skiing in 1937 and is located high atop historic Donner Summit. The area's first rope tow was located at the base of the current lodge. Today, Donner has 400 skiable acres, 5 double and 1 triple chairlifts.

Heavenly (58 miles)
Few ski resorts match Heavenly's scenic beauty and expansive network of lifts, terrain, trails, and snowmaking. Located on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, Heavenly is the region's largest mountain resort, featuring the highest elevation and longest vertical drop. Last season was the opening of the long-awaited 8 passenger Gondola. A new village on the South Shore's main highway offers a cinema complex and the welcoming gondola plaza. The views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra mountain range are magnificent. Heavenly Resort spans two statelines (California and Nevada). Heavenly is owned and operated by Vail Resorts, Inc.

Homewood (60 miles)
Homewood’s elevation at the summit is almost 8,000 feet. You will find a lot of "locals" at Homewood and some excellent snowboarding instruction. Homewood added two new grooming machines this season to keep the slopes well maintained for its guests.

Kirkwood (80 miles)
With a base elevation of 7800 feet, Kirkwood always receives Tahoe's deepest and driest snow. Consisting of 2300 acres of some of Lake Tahoe's best and most unique terrain, Kirkwood also offers the most expansive cross country and snowshoe trails in the South Shore region. Other amenities include ice skating, tubing and dog sledding.

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe (22 miles)
25 Minutes from Reno, Mt. Rose has an elevation of 7,900 ft. and has Lake Tahoe’s Highest Base Lodge at 8,260 ft. which makes Mt. Rose, Tahoe’s Highest ski area. There are over 1200 skiable acres along with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Mountain Range.

Northstar at Tahoe (40 miles)
Located near the northwestern edge of Lake Tahoe, Northstar offers skiing and snowboarding on 2,420 acres, including 70 trails and seven terrain parks. These parks include a halfpipe and 17-foot superpipe, and Paw Parks for kids. Its vertical drop is 2,280 feet and the longest run is nearly 3 miles.

Royal Gorge (45 miles)
Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort has an extensive network of trails that spread over thousands of acres of wilderness. Because of the ski resort’s facilities and sheer size, most cross-country skiers consider this among the finest facilities in the world.

Sierra at Tahoe (72 miles)
Sierra at Tahoe features a 2,212 vertical drop and the resort gets annual snowfalls averaging 560 inches. The resort also features truly breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe.

Soda Springs (48 miles)
Established in 1931, Soda Springs is one of America's original ski resorts and has become a cost-saving alternative to the larger Lake Tahoe resorts. There is a relatively small vertical drop and is less intimidating for beginners and families.

Spooner Lake (45 miles)
Spooner Lake Cross Country Ski Area offers fun for people of all ages and ability levels. Whether you want easy to moderate trails, or day long treks into the back country, or even an overnight in a wilderness cabin, Spooner has something for you.
This is the closest major cross country area to South Lake Tahoe, 12 miles from the Stateline Casinos on the Nevada side of the lake.

Squaw Valley (45 miles)
Squaw Valley USA was the site of the VIII Winter Olympic Games in 1960, and is one of the most legendary winter vacation destinations in the world. This is one of America's premiere destination ski resorts and every skier and boarder will enjoy the seemingly endless terrain, spanning 4,000 acres. In addition, skiers will take delight in Squaw Valley’s new European style village.

Sugar Bowl (43 miles)
Sugar Bowl Ski Resort offers 78 trails spread over 1,500 acres and is one of America's truly unique ski resorts. The recent addition of the White Pine quad chair added ideal beginner terrain and the new Flying Carpet is the easiest way for beginners to get up the slope.

Tahoe Donner (38 miles)
You'll discover Tahoe Donner in the upper reaches of Truckee. It is five miles from Donner Lake and less than 20 miles from Lake Tahoe. You will find one quad chairlift, one double chairlift and one surface lift accessing 14 runs with over 120 skiable acres. Tahoe Donner Ski Area is committed to being "the best place for family fun and learning."
