Blackjack
Blackjack or 21 is one of the more popular card games played at the Eldorado. It's
easy to learn and exciting to play.
In Blackjack, everyone plays against the dealer. The dealer starts the game by giving
each player 2 cards face down. The dealers first card is face up and the second
card is face down. The object of the game is to accumulate card denominations as
close to 21 as possible without going over. If a hand does go over 21 it is called
a "bust" and the dealer automatically wins. All face cards count as 10.Aces can
count as either 1 or 11. All other cards are played at face value.
An Ace with any 10, Jack, Queen, or King is a "Blackjack". Turn this hand over immediately
and the dealer will pay you one and a half times your bet on some games or six to
five on other tables, unless the dealer also has a "Blackjack", in which case the
hand is declared a "push" and there are no winners or losers.
If the dealer is showing an Ace, you have the option of taking "insurance" by placing
a bet on the insurance line, not greater than one-half of your original bet. If
the dealer has a "Blackjack," the insurance is paid two to one. If the dealer doesn't
have "Blackjack," your insurance bet is taken and the game continues.
If you don't have a "Blackjack" and your not satisfied with your hand, you may gesture
to the dealer to "hit" you, which means give you another card. You may do this more
than once per hand, but if you go over 21 you "bust" and lose.
If you do not wish additional cards once your two cards have been dealt, turn your
cards face down under your bet. This is called a "stand". After all players are
satisfied with their hands or have "busted", the dealer turns her down face card
up and stands or draws more cards as is necessary. The dealer must draw on soft
17 and stand on 17. A soft 17 is any combination of cards containing an Ace, but
not a 10, that total 7 or 17(Example: Ace, 6 ;Ace, 3, 3 ; Ace, 4, 2, etc).
