Eldorado Resorts Reno Properties Earn Green Globes Certification
For Immediate ReleaseMon, Jan 15, 2018
RENO, Nev. (Jan. 15, 2018) – Eldorado Resort Casino, Silver Legacy Resort Casino and Circus Circus Reno are pleased to announced that all three Eldorado Resorts properties have been certified by The Green Building Initiative (GBI) for resource efficiency and reduction of environmental impacts. Silver Legacy and Circus Circus have each earned four Globes, the highest number of Green Globes possible, while Eldorado earned three Globes.
There are only 13 properties in Washoe County that have been Green Globes or Leed certified. Four Globes indicates that the buildings demonstrated national leadership and excellence in the practice of energy, water and environmental efficiency to reduce environmental impacts. A Three Globes rating shows that the building demonstrates leadership in applying best practices regarding energy, water and environmental efficiency.
Some of the highest rated areas for each building include emissions, effluents and pollution controls for the Silver Legacy Casino (98.8%), environmental management system for the Eldorado (92.8%) and energy for Circus Circus (86.2%). Efforts that contribute to these high scores include efforts such as low-emissions boilers and water heaters, having a written environmental policy, goals and targets for energy, water and hazardous materials, low-flow faucets and high-efficiency lighting.
In each separate report, GBI commended the Eldorado Resorts Reno team and on-site facility managers for their excellent work in operating the facility in-line with the Green Globes requirements and for demonstrating their commitment to furthering sustainability practices.
Circus Circus has long been a proponent of sustainable hospitality and has implanted multiple conservation policies to reduce the impact of the hotels daily operations on the environment. Significant progress has been made year-over-year to reduce the hotel casinos carbon footprint through waste prevention, recycling and water conservation. With the acquisition of Circus Circus in 2015, Eldorado Resorts looked to Circus Circus as a role model for the Eldorado and Silver Legacy and many of their initiatives have since carried over.
